Earthquake Data Center of Turkey
The Earthquake Data Center of Turkey project aims to establish an “Earthquake Data Center of Turkey” under AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), legally designated on behalf of the Republic of Turkey, that shall combine the digital seismic data and all seismic data collected in our country obtained from the self-operated seismic networks and seismic networks operated by KRDAE (Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute and shall carry out storage and distribution operations.
The establishment of the center shall be carried out under the coordinationship of AFAD with the support of KRDAE, TÜBİTAK MAM YDBE (TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, Earth and Marine Sciences Institute) and other universities. The project shall be carried out by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, which manages the stages of collection, storage and preparation of the data and the Turkish National Research and Education Network (ULAKNET), and holds the authority and equipment for the storage of national data. The transfer, control, organization, monitoring, conversion to common format or formats and distribution of data shall be carried out by the Data Processing Center which is already established under AFAD.
